Costs
So How Much is This Going to Cost Me?
Ultimate Frisbee is actually a very cheap sport to play compared to many other sports. There are very little things you need to buy, so this keeps the cost pretty cheap. First off, clothing. I personally had to buy cleats but basically just got the cheapest pair I could. I went to the clearance rack of my nearest sporting goods store and bought a pair that fit. Like I said in the 'what to wear' post, you truly are not required to even wear cleats. If it is too much to go and buy them, just any tennis shoes will work. Jerseys are also under this category. Team jerseys are really going to range in prices, but I would say nothing more than $25 for a jersey. I remember my team ordered new jerseys, a light and a dark, for $24 each. They are so cool looking and worth the price. Next, there may be a league cost to play. These will also range but in my experience have never been over $100. I also had to buy a USA Ultimate membership but it was not much and my membership lasts a whole year. Discs are also going to be a requirement, but these can be bought from second hand stores and are usually even given out for free by leagues. I probably have only bought two discs of the 8 I own, so you never really have to worry about buying one. There is a good chance you will have a teammate who is a disc hoarder like me. Lastly, snacks and water are always a must to stay in peak condition during those long tournament days. This is always cheap and most times the coaches or team moms will have snacks for you. Our team mom always brought us bagels and there is always that on teammate who brings the party bag of Goldfish. Overall, this is a super easy sport to afford because you really have to pay next to nothing. In golf you need to buy all of the clubs, in soccer you need to buy all of the protection, and uniforms are always going to be a lot of pieces for many other sports. Ultimate is such a good choice if you want to get active on a budget because there is not a ton you are required to have and you don't have to be constantly replacing supplies.
